Job description

Job Title

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Division of Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch

Job Description

Performs daily office tasks for Juvenile Intervention Center including filing, maintaining confidential records, copying, data entry, distributing mail, etc. Follows procedures unique to JIC, e.g., searches mail for contraband and schedules visitation. Operates multi-line telephone and transfers incoming calls to appropriate parties. Responds to inquiries about JIC and Court. Updates detainee and staff information in respective tracking systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Generates facility reports such as counts of felony's & misdemeanors, counts of male & females, counts of all youth detained over 90 days, list of youth pending release, next hearing dates, etc.
  2. Answers all incoming calls and responds to telephone inquiries. Schedules visitations for detainees. Distributes phone calls.
  3. Greets public in reception area. Responds to public's inquiries such as information about mediation, providing directions, etc.
  4. Performs general clerical tasks (filing, copying, faxing, shredding, collating). Orders office supplies, paper and forms.
  5. Enters and assigns all IDC's. Assigns to Supervisor for hearing, and then records outcome in database.
  6. Enters all youth grievances. Records results once processed.
  7. Searches all incoming mail for contraband and delivers to youth on the units. Returns any mail that is considered contraband and or for youth no longer detained. Informs detainees of any alleged contraband in writing.
  8. Scans files of all released youth.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assists Superintendent and other JIC management with projects and assignments.
  • Monitors PREA phone line and relays messages to the ODRC.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • 0-2 years of clerical experience; strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word.
