Job description

Digital Marketing StrategistQUALIFICATIONS

The Digital Marketing Strategist is a seasoned marketing professional who has earned their seat at the table. They don't need to be managed - they need to be challenged. They bring a depth of strategic thinking that comes from real experience across multiple industries, client types, and campaign environments, and they apply that experience to every engagement they touch.

This person has likely worked in an agency, moved into a corporate or in-house role, and found themselves missing the variety, pace, and energy that only agency life offers. They are not here as a stepping stone. They are here because they want to do great work, grow with a team that values their expertise, and build something they can point to over time. They are looking for a home, not just a job.

They are comfortable in a room with a small business owner who needs direction and equally comfortable presenting strategy to a mid-market leadership team that expects substance and precision. They read the room, adjust their communication, and always show up prepared. Clients trust them quickly because they demonstrate competence from the first conversation.

They go deep. They are not satisfied with surface-level recommendations or templated strategies. They dig into a client's business, ask the questions others skip, and build plans that are specific, defensible, and tied to real business outcomes. They understand that strategy without execution is just conversation - and they stay close to both.

They are collaborative professionals who work well within a structured team environment. They take direction from senior leadership without ego, contribute actively to team thinking, and bring their best whether they are leading a client call or supporting a colleague's account.

RESPONSIBILITIESClient Strategy & Campaign Planning
  • Develop comprehensive digital marketing strategies for clients across paid media, SEO, content & web - tailored to each client's business objectives, competitive landscape & budget

  • Lead strategic planning sessions with clients, translating business goals into actionable marketing plans with defined KPIs and measurable outcomes

  • Build and present campaign recommendations, quarterly business reviews, and strategic roadmaps to clients ranging from small business owners to mid-market leadership teams

  • Identify growth opportunities within existing client accounts and bring forward-thinking recommendations proactively - not just when asked

  • Collaborate with the StratMar Team Leader on account strategy, new business conversations, and cross-team alignment

Campaign Execution & Oversight
  • Collaborate with channel specialists on tactical execution of digital campaigns, actively contributing to implementation while ensuring strategy is accurately carried into execution

  • Monitor performance across all active channels, identify trends early, and make data-driven optimizations in a timely manner

  • Hold the standard on campaign quality - review deliverables before they reach the client and flag anything that doesn't meet the bar

  • Stay current on platform mechanics, algorithm changes, and industry trends - and apply that knowledge directly through data-driven optimizations, new strategies, and continuous performance improvements across campaigns

Client Communication & Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary strategic point of contact for assigned clients, building trusted advisor relationships that support long-term support

  • Conduct regular client meetings, performance reviews, and strategic check-ins with clarity, confidence, and a focus on business outcomes

  • Communicate proactively so clients always have clear visibility into whatโ€™s happening with their account and how their investment is being utilized

  • Manage client expectations effectively, navigate difficult conversations with professionalism, and bring solutions rather than problems to every interaction

Reporting & Analysis
  • Build and deliver performance reports, scorecards & dashboards that tell a story, leveraging Looker Studio, Agency Analytics & Google Analytics - not just a spreadsheet of numbers

  • Translate data into insights and recommended actions with clear connections to client business goals

  • Support StratMar Team Leader in refining internal processes, playbooks & strategic plans

SPECIFICATIONSREQUIRED
  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketing strategy, with demonstrated ownership of client accounts and campaign outcomes

  • Proven track record of building and executing successful campaigns across multiple digital channels including paid search, paid social, SEO, and content

  • Experience working directly with clients in a strategic, consultative capacity - comfortable presenting to and advising both SMB and mid-market leadership teams

  • Strong analytical ability - able to interpret campaign data, identify meaningful trends, and translate findings into clear strategic recommendations

  • Proficiency with Google Ads, Meta Ads, Google Analytics, GA4 & Google Tag Manager

  • Experience building client-facing reports and dashboards in Looker Studio or similar

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead client meetings with confidence and clarity

  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously without sacrificing quality or responsiveness

  • Self-directed and accountable - able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and take ownership of outcomes

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Evidence of career progression, long-term commitment, and intentional professional development

PREFERRED
  • Prior agency experience followed by in-house or corporate marketing experience - with a clear, motivated reason for returning to agency

  • Experience with programmatic advertising platforms such as Simpli.fi or other DSPs

  • Familiarity with HubSpot for CRM, pipeline tracking, and marketing automation

  • Experience with local listings management platforms such as Yext

  • Google Ads and/or Meta certifications

  • Experience with task/project management and time tracking software

  • Familiarity with the StoryBrand framework and its application to campaign messaging and client positioning

DESIRED
  • Experience contributing to new business pitches or proposals as a SME

  • Familiarity w/ website strategy, UX principles & conversion-focused design thinking

  • Membership in a local marketing, SEO, or digital advertising peer group
