Job description

About American Scientific

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, American Scientific designs and distributes hands-on science education products. We offer chemistry, laboratory equipment, life science, physics, and our PHYWE premium instrument line. We supply hundreds of resellers worldwide, including some of the largest educational suppliers in the industry.

We do more than import products. We develop our own and create custom solutions for partners. We operate as a small Central Ohio team, which means your accounts are truly yours, decisions happen quickly, and the operations lead is just down the hall.

The Role

You'll own a portfolio of reseller and distributor accounts and grow it. About 60% of your time goes to expanding and protecting the partners already on your list; the rest is winning new ones through outreach, bids, and RFPs.

This is a real sales seat, not order entry. You'll learn our catalog well enough to recommend the right product, answer a technical question without stalling, and win on something other than price.

What You'll Do

  • Grow your accounts. Own the relationship with assigned resellers, distributors, and lab customers. Spot the upsell, protect the reorder, keep competitors out of your accounts
  • Win new business. Prospect new reseller partners, respond to bids and RFPs, and work inbound leads through to close against monthly and quarterly targets
  • Run the deal end to end. Build accurate quotes, process purchase and sales orders, and coordinate with operations so shipments and drop-ships land correctly and on time
  • Know the products. Build real command of our science education and laboratory catalog so you can recommend solutions and handle technical questions directly
  • Keep the account clean. Resolve order issues, returns, and vendor discrepancies, and maintain accurate records in our ERP/CRM
  • Work across the building. Partner with operations, finance, and customer service to solve problems from first contact through fulfillment

What You Need

  • 2+ years of B2B sales experience where you carried a quota and hit it. Wholesale, distribution, education, lab, or industrial backgrounds transfer best
  • Comfort on the phone. Outbound calling is a real part of this job, not an occasional task
  • Ability to run a CRM/ERP without hand-holding, plus solid Microsoft Office skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly
  • Comfort using AI tools for research, outreach, and product work. We use them often, and we're expanding how
  • On-site in Columbus, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

A plus, not required: experience selling into K–12 or higher education channels, familiarity with science or laboratory products, or experience responding to public-sector and co-op bids.

What We Offer

  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Consistent daytime hours, no nights or weekends
  • A defined book of accounts from day one; you're not building from zero
  • Room to shape how we work. We're small enough that good ideas get implemented, not filed
