Job description
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role works closely with operations, project management, field leadership, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to support successful project planning, bidding, and execution.
What You'll Do- Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed estimates and proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to develop complete and competitive bids.
- Analyze project scope, identify risks, and develop cost-saving or value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare conceptual, budgetary, negotiated, and hard-bid estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client walkthroughs as needed.
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and field teams to ensure accurate project planning and successful handoffs.
- Assist in developing scopes of work, bid packages, and proposal documentation.
- Maintain estimating records, historical cost data, and pricing databases.
- Monitor market conditions, labor trends, material pricing, and subcontractor availability to support accurate forecasting and estimating.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of estimating experience in commercial construction, masonry, restoration, or a related construction trade preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, productivity factors, and cost drivers.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, BuildingConnected, Sage, or similar construction software preferred.
