Description:
*Position located at Mount Carmel East
*Full-time, rotating. Shifts are: 0630-1500, 1000-1830, or 1430-2300. Every 3rd weekend requirement.
The Certified Pharmacy Tech, will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Technician responsibilities are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology.
**Mount Carmel also offers an elevated Certified Pharmacy Tech - Sterile Compounding compensation program for all sterile compounding trained technicians, regardless of prior experience. Following completion of our standardized training program, all signed off technicians will be approved for elevated compensation**
What You Will Do:
  • Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture
  • Following in depth, role specific training. Team responsibilities include:
    • Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards
    • Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards
    • Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots
    • Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on our patient care units
    • Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system
    • Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation, storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team
    • Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High school graduation or equivalent
  • Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification. Active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).
  • A desire to career build, with ambition to elevate their working pharmacy knowledge to the extent of their Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
