This part-time, 10 hours per week Research Technician 2, will be hired to provide support within the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy on a federally funded research project in the early childhood education setting. The study is a home visit-based randomized clinical trial of caregivers and children between the ages of 3.5 - 5 of a caregiver-led learning intervention. The Research Technician will spend the majority of their time engaged in data collection. Primary responsibilities include the administration of child assessments as well as implementing observational data collection. The Research Technician will be responsible for tracking and documenting their work and assisting with data entry and management. Must participate in online and onsite (Crane Center) training led by project coordinator. Ability to work independently; self-motivated. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The work involves regular travel to library locations or home visit sites for data collection. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Reimbursement for work-related mileage is provided. Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience: High School Diploma and 1 year of relevant experience required.
Formal or informal experience working with children and families. Strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of desktop computing and Microsoft Office suite products; experience working collaboratively with others. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for field work. Must be able to fulfill the state requirements to work with children (successful completion of an FBI/BCI background check).
Desired Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Knowledgeable of research practices, including experience with human subjects' projects. Experience in field of early childhood research. Experience working with families and children from diverse backgrounds. Documented education/training in literacy and reading or experience with lesson planning and implementation for young children.
