This role will be onsite at our Easton office in Columbus, OH or our One South Charlotte office in North Carolina.

Summary:

RM I/Relationship Management Associate for CSG - Corporate Mortgage Finance, will be an important contributor within the Relationship Management team in the Corporate Mortgage Finance Group (“CMF”).

The Relationship Management Associate will support the existing CMF portfolio of clients as well as assist with deal flow, documentation, tracking and reporting on the pipeline of new and renewal credit facilities within the group. You will work collaboratively with the group’s RM Team Lead, other Banker/RMs, Portfolio Managers and various internal colleagues to support current and prospective client relationship growth.

The Relationship Management Associate position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to thrive in the fast-paced Commercial Banking environment at Huntington. The Relationship Management Associate will deliver on team business development goals to grow and manage a portfolio of credit facilities to mortgage lenders and servicers, ie. Mortgage Warehouse and Mortgage Servicing facilities.  This position generally leads to more advanced roles in Relationship or Portfolio Management.

This position reports to the RM Team Lead, or another senior leader determined by the Head of the group.  Note: This position is open to remote work if the preferred candidate is not within commuting distance of a Commercial Banking office.

In this role as a Relationship Management Associate, you will be performing the following duties:

  • Gather, review and track appropriate documentation from prospective and existing clients
  • Support the due diligence process to ensure collection and completion of required items including client applications and supporting documentation, credit and background checks, KYC, field reviews, etc. to ensure loans meet all policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and monitor the underwriting and closing processes for bilateral and syndicated credit facilities within required timeframes
  • Preparation, review and retention of term sheets; review of legal documentation; maintenance of applicable legal templates and client files
  • Track and report on joint calling and referrals with other areas of the bank (e.g., CSG, mortgage ecosystem, Capital Markets, etc.)
  • Prepare and distribute regular reporting, including pipeline reports, volume projections, prospect reporting, client-level facility and trend reporting
  • Compile briefing memos on upcoming client meetings and conferences, including relationship history, client performance trends, meeting objectives
  • Work with team to prepare, plan and manage conference attendance, space planning and meeting schedules
  • Manage special projects as assigned by RM Team Lead and/or senior management

Performance & Monitoring: Responsible for supporting the maintenance and credit quality of the portfolio consistent with Huntington and CMFG credit policies, procedures, and guidelines. The Relationship Management Associate will:

  • Assist in preparing periodic client level Portfolio Reviews on various metrics, in conjunction with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Operations
  • Compile information required by auditors, regulators or other credit or risk partners within the bank, ensuring timely and accurate responses
  • Communicate and escalate actual or potential counter-party performance, compliance or facility level credit or operational issues
  • Conduct active surveillance of assigned facilities, work closely with Relationship and Portfolio Management on account-specific issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or industry equivalent experience
  • 1+ years' experience in commercial lending

Preferred Qualifications:      

  • 2+ years’ commercial lending or mortgage industry experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating strong organization and project management skills
  • Demonstrated high motivation level and goal orientation
  • Ability to work independently, asking for guidance as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
