Job description

RN - Oncology

Shift: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM, 5 shifts per week, 40 scheduled hours. Start date: 06/29/2026, End date: 09/28/2026, Duration: 13 weeks.

Description: 5 x 8D, 0730 to 1600. Peripheral and line blood draws and IV placements are required skills. Staffing ratios - goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5. Weekends - variable based on unit needs. No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff. Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule. First week of orientation is Mon - Fri dayshift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Oncology experience preferred but not required. Drawing labs, placing peripheral IVs, accessing ports and picc lines, and line dressings. EKGs, injections/immunizations. Patient diagnoses: Hematology malignancies-multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and lymphoma-pre and post BMT/CART transplant. Special procedures/unit details: chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies: tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, heparin drips. Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls.

Certifications required: BLS. Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, computerized charting EPIC.

Travel compliance: There is a strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start no exceptions. Please screen for any candidate vacation time taking place immediately after booking as this will likely cause a push due to fingerprinting delays. Please only submit to one location. The AM team will find the best fit for the clinician. PLEASE NOTE: ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE MADE AWARE OF THE URGENCY OF THE OHIO FINGERPRINTING PROCESS. Candidate must complete fingerprints as soon as they sign contract. TRAVELERS WHO ARE UNRESPONSIVE OR UNCOOPERATIVE WITH CREDENTIALING ARE AT RISK OF PUSH/CANCEL. All candidates who are currently outside the state of Ohio but within driving distance will be required to drive to a fingerprinting location in Ohio as soon as possible after booking. Travelers who are extreme distances from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet, which is to be completed urgently upon receipt. Detailed instructions will be sent to the candidate by the Credentialing team. RTO required with submission, must be built into contract. Locals are accepted at the same rate. Reference requirements: 2 professional references are required. At least 1 reference must be from a manager/director or someone in a formal leadership capacity (e.g., a supervisor). Charge RN acceptable for 2nd reference. No coworker references accepted. Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more. Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location. RNs- must have valid compact or state license in hand at time of submission. MRI techs - submittals without OH license are acceptable. Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program. Guaranteed hours: Contract weeks: 91.
