Job Description
Airtron is seeking a detail-oriented Residential HVAC Quality Control (QC) Technician to serve as the final checkpoint on new construction installations. This role is responsible for inspecting, testing, and optimizing HVAC systems to ensure they meet company standards, code requirements, and manufacturer specifications. The QC Technician identifies and corrects installation deficiencies, verifies system performance—including airflow and operation—and ensures each home is delivered with a high-quality, customer-ready system. This position requires strong diagnostic skills, a commitment to workmanship excellence, and the ability to collaborate with installers, supervisors, and builders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform final quality inspections on residential HVAC installations
  • Identify, diagnose, and complete corrective work on installation deficiencies (punch-out items)
  • Resolve inspection issues, including correction of Red Tag notices
  • Test and verify system performance, including airflow balancing and overall system operation
  • Inspect ductwork and implement necessary modifications to meet design and performance standards
  • Ensure all installations meet company quality standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications
  • Communicate findings, deficiencies, and recommended solutions with installers, supervisors, and builders
  • Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on installation quality trends
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, corrections, and system performance
  • Interact professionally with homeowners and builders during service and finalization visits
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
  • Work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED (experience may be substituted)
  • Prior HVAC installation experience (residential preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret installation plans and construction documents
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, duct design, and airflow principles
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written)
  • Basic computer skills (tablets, laptops, documentation systems)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including occasional weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification (experience may be substituted)
  • 2+ years of residential HVAC installation or service experience
  • EPA Certification (can be obtained during employment)
  • Experience with system start-up, commissioning, or quality control processes

Working Conditions
  • Work performed primarily in residential homes and construction sites
  • Regular travel between job sites
  • Exposure to construction environments, including noise, dust, confined spaces, and elevated work areas
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and, when required
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and crouching
  • Ability to work at heights including ladders
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
  • Sufficient vision, hearing, and dexterity to safely perform job duties
  • Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, lifting, and handling tools and materials

$22-$30/HR
