Drill Operator - Underground
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience

Experience Requirement: 1-2 Years previous experience with Boring Drill and related equipment. Knowledge to read and interpret engineered drawings

Skills and Abilities: Perform duties satisfactorily

Language Requirement: Read, speak, and understand English

Licenses or Certifications: Class A CDL License; clean driving record

Physical Requirement: Sitting, standing, hand dexterity, speaking, vision and hearing.

Mental Requirement: Ability to follow procedures in an organized fashion; problem solving skills.

Working Conditions: Field; subject to weather conditions.
DUTIES / TASKS
  • Punch in on time and is available for work at the beginning of each workday.
  • Assist in safe setup and breakdown of work zone.
  • Operate directional boring machine and drill for underground utility placement.
  • Drill and pull back conduit, cable, and fiber.
  • Load, unload, and identify job materials, machinery, and tools, at appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
  • Operate backhoe as needed.
  • Drive trucks/vehicles while towing loaded trailers. Requires Class A CDL License.
  • Digs ditches / trenches, backfill excavations, and grade earth to specifications, using picks, shovels and other tools.
  • Assist in installation of pipes and risers.
  • Assist in locating utilities and set pedestals.
  • Is neatly groomed and wears company uniform.
  • Notifies supervisor of any unsafe equipment or working conditions.
  • Attends safety meetings as required.
  • Read and check prints.
  • Receives an annual performance evaluation of satisfactory or better or a plan is in place to achieve that result.
  • Follows company, customer and OSHA Safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs any other duty or assignment as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Supervisor.
  • Holds required licensing to drive vehicles and equipment including Class A CDL License.
  • Understands project deadlines and prepares to work in outside weather conditions.
