Project Controls Analyst

The Project Controls Analyst will work directly alongside the Project Controls & Closeout Analyst, leveraging the capacity as an on-site financial resource to our large-scale construction project teams and providing dedicated support to those projects. This role will work in a highly collaborative way with our purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams. The Project Controls Analyst provides project-level cost oversight, supports monthly financial close activities, maintains job cost data integrity, and helps identify financial risks before they impact project performance.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Serve as on-site finance partner across assigned large construction projects, traveling between sites as needed
  • Manage project financial performance, forecasting, and margin projections through the cost to complete (CTC) process; flagging variances to project management & operations leadership
  • Support monthly financial closing activities for assigned projects
  • Maintain budget & phase code structures throughout project life cycle
  • Ensure project costs are fully captured & properly allocated; performing reclassification entries as needed
  • Assist with financial tracking of change orders, ensuring proper coding & budget updates
  • Support monthly billing activities, including updating customer cash flow projections, as required
  • Review & reconcile open purchase commitments against budgets, manage PO closeout process
  • Provide support to on-site project teams for time entry in Procore, as needed
  • Maintain accurate & current job cost data records across Procore & Viewpoint Spectrum
  • Develop & maintain working relationships with Project Management & Field Operations team
  • Serve as the go-to financial resource for project teams, supporting formal reporting cycles
  • Project-specific asset tracking (MCE owned equipment & tools)
Key Experience to Hit the Ground Running:
  • 2+ years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, cost controls, construction finance, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites as needed.

This position requires frequent travel in central Ohio to construction job sites at all construction phases and in all weather conditions.
