Job description

Position Summary

The Process Technician is responsible for mold changes and ensuring the efficiency, quality, and consistency of injection molding processes within the manufacturing environment. This role leads cycle time reductions, process flow improvements, and efficiency initiatives while working closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams. The Process Technician must work effectively with associates at all levels to maintain production schedules, ensure product quality, and promote safe working conditions. Molds must be set within established time standards without compromising safety.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Prior experience with mold setting and changeover processes
  • Working knowledge of injection molding principles and processes
  • Understanding of mold design and material properties and their impact on quality and cycle time
  • Knowledge of production flow and quality requirements
  • Ability to work overtime and travel with little or no notice
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and process improvement tools
  • Strong attention to safety and quality standards

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set molds in injection molding machines in accordance with safety and quality standards
  • Change and set end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
  • Load and verify process parameters for machines, robots, and related equipment
  • Connect and set up auxiliary equipment and fixtures
  • Ensure tie bars, ways, hoppers, pits, and surrounding areas are clean and properly maintained
  • Troubleshoot injection molding processes and robot programs
  • Edit robot programs independently as required
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established timeframes
  • Improve injection molding processes to support cost reduction, delivery performance, and product quality
  • Identify tool- and machine-related issues and take appropriate corrective actions to resolve them
  • Support engineering trials, including process parameter development, robot programming, and EOAT design
  • Implement continuous improvement ideas and document changes accurately and completely

Essential Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in injection molding or process technician roles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Experience operating overhead cranes
