Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Completion of an approved professional nursing education program. Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required for teaching in the BSN program. Current, active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio. Ohio Residence is required. Experience of at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse. Requires successful completion of a background check. Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of Central Ohio Technical College. Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with online teaching, experience with competency-based education.
Summary of Duties:
This is a posting for part-time teaching opportunities with the intent to create and maintain an ongoing applicant pool. These are temporary, part-time positions and may be located at any of the College's four campuses.
Under the direction of the course lead faculty, provides instruction in the online setting to students enrolled in the RN-BSN program following the COTC online teaching guidelines. Responsible for regular, substantive interaction with students through a variety of means. Provides student feedback on formative and summative assessments throughout the term until the student demonstrates competency. Grades will be completed using a standardized rubric, within 48 clock hours of student submission. Responsible for maintaining regularly scheduled virtual office hours to meet with students. Communicates regularly with the course lead regarding student progress towards course objectives. Provides input into nursing program development through oral/written communication, discussions during meetings of the course faculty, departmental/committee meeting and/or project involvement. Submits to the departmental office course materials, textbooks, completed student evaluations, and feedback in a timely and complete manner. Reports experiences, as well as seeks assistance from the lead faculty as needed for quality education and assurance of outcomes. Continuously educates self about emerging clinical, organizational, and professional matters, incorporating them into practice. Participates in mandatory COTC faculty education events.
