Job description

The Division of Unclaimed Funds reunites Ohioans with their hard-earned but forgotten money. This includes taking reports of unclaimed funds that result when an account becomes dormant and the business no longer has contact information for the account owner, holding these funds for safekeeping and working aggressively to track down the rightful owner.
What You'll Do:
  • As a lead examiner, you will review claims requiring 2nd level approvals for payment, process holder reimbursements, determine completeness & accuracy of claims
  • Assist claims supervisor with returning calls to claimants, training new employees, & performs other related duties
  • Ensures compliance with the Ohio Unclaimed Funds laws & internal procedures with processing claims
  • Collect & review background information for validity
  • Corresponds with claimant & reporting agents
  • Analyzes reports & forms submitted for claims

Qualifications
Undergraduate core coursework in accounting or 2 yrs. exp. in accounting; 12 mos. additional exp. in accounting or in other fiscal/financial activity with exp. to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
-Or undergraduate core coursework in business administration, economics or computer science or related field; 16 semester or 24 quarter hours in accounting; 12 mos. exp. in position involving accounting, billings, collections, payments or reimbursements with exp. to be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
-Or 12 mos. exp. as Accountant/ Examiner 3, 66113 with state government exp. commensurate with duties to be assigned.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
