We have an opening in our Distribution Department for either an entry level Laborer or for an experienced Distribution Operator.

Key Job Details

  • Reports to: Distribution Manager
  • Department: Distribution
  • Classification: Hourly (non-exempt) Full-Time
  • Location: Delaware, Ohio
  • Schedule 8:00 am โ€“ 4:30 pm M-F
  • *Must be able to respond to occasional call outs, serve on-call, or work off-shift as needed.
  • Technician I / Grade: 4 ($19.31 - 23.39)
  • Equipment Operator I / Grade: 8 ($27.21 - 33.33)

Essential Duties:

The Technician assists with the duties while the Operator provides skilled and technical expertise in the operation of the water system. Both are responsible for:

  • Installation of mains and other pipes, water meters, valves, installing new water services/taps, reading meters, repair and maintenance of hydrants, etc.
  • Repair meters and ruptured water lines as needed.
  • Landscape restoration work.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools and trucks.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that vehicles are stocked with tools and equipment.
  • Operate various types of equipment and vehicles.
  • Prepare reports, documents, and forms as required.
  • Go on call outs, serve on-call, or work off-shift as needed.
  • Work as a team member and cooperate with others on group projects.
  • Be open to feedback and constructive criticism; offer feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Know and uphold the policies, procedures and philosophies of Del-Co Water Co., Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • The Operator position requires an Ohio CDL Class A license and OEPA Distribution Operator License (Class I or II) as well as have demonstrated skills, knowledge, abilities, and technical expertise to complete the responsibilities listed.
  • The Distribution Technician should have a combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the ability to develop the skills, knowledge and abilities listed.
  • Self-starter, detailed oriented, handle multiple tasks, and have the ability to work as part of a team. Good communication skills needed. Basic computer skills are preferred with an understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must have knowledge in the use of various hand and power tools, and motorized equipment used for general repair and maintenance work.
  • Must be able to perform manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • An Ohio Drivers license and acceptable driving record is required.
