Position Overview

We're looking for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist who can bring structure, discipline, and results to a portfolio of direct raw materials and packaging critical to manufacturing operations.

You will own sourcing execution and supplier performance, driving cost competitiveness, supply reliability, and strong commercial outcomes. This role translates business requirements into actionable sourcing strategies, leads competitive sourcing events, and manages supplier relationships to deliver measurable value.

Operating within Hexion's Strategic Sourcing Process (SSP), you will partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Legal and Commercial teams as required to ensure sourcing decisions are market-informed, risk-managed, and commercially sound.

Success in this role requires an innovative mindset, strong critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions. You will be expected to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and work across teams to develop solutions that improve performance and drive meaningful business impact.

This role offers significant ownership and visibility, with the opportunity to directly impact production continuity and overall business performance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead sourcing events (RFQs/RFPs) for assigned direct material categories
  • Analyze spend and market conditions to identify cost reduction and value optimization opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts aligned to total cost of ownership
  • Execute sourcing activities in alignment with Hexion's Strategic Sourcing Process (SSP)
  • Build and manage supplier relationships, including onboarding, performance management, and issue resolution
  • Monitor supplier performance against key metrics, including delivery, service, and cost adherence
  • Ensure consistent contract coverage and preferred supplier utilization
  • Track and evaluate market dynamics and key cost drivers impacting assigned materials
  • Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Legal to align sourcing strategies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance sourcing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure sourcing decisions meet safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements

            Viewed as an expert / resource not only on commodity set, but negotiations in general

            Strong Supplier Relationship Management / Partnership with supplier and ability to fully leverage relationship with supplier

            Effectively uses procurement management within multi-level supplier relationships

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

            Viewed as an expert for a commodity to internal and external stakeholders

            Ability to utilize market knowledge to anticipate impact in the market, other commodities, regions, etc. (i.e. Global Commodity; impact on downstream materials)

            Skillful in converting market knowledge to strategy; innovative 

            Market knowledge is proactively shared with peers or business teams and fully integrated into strategies

            Utilizes market knowledge to maximize both short and long-term value 

Process Utilization:

            Serves as role model and mentor to others in use and application of procurement processes and business services or as leader of procurement process

            Perceived as an innovative leader in development/improvement of procurement processes.  Creates value through processes

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain
  • Experience leading RFQs/RFPs and negotiating supplier agreements
  • Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis and cost evaluation
  • Experience working with ERP or procurement systems (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple sourcing events and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in dynamic environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience sourcing direct raw materials in a manufacturing or chemicals environment
  • Knowledge of market cost drivers and supply base dynamics for industrial materials
  • Experience working within structured sourcing processes or frameworks
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle or sourcing tools
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS)
