Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

A hotel houseman ensures the overall cleanliness and maintenance of a hotel's public areas, hallways, and guest floors, while assisting room attendants with heavy lifting, linen delivery, and trash removal. They are essential for keeping the property running smoothly by managing inventory, setting up meeting rooms, and responding to guest requests for items like extra pillows or towels. 

Key responsibilities of a hotel houseman include:

  • Cleaning Common Areas: Maintaining the cleanliness of the lobby, restrooms, elevators, corridors, pool area, and fitness center.
  • Supporting Housekeeping: Delivering linens, supplies, and amenities to guest floors; removing soiled linens and trash from housekeeping carts.
  • Room Setup & Maintenance: Assisting with heavy tasks like moving furniture, placing rollaway beds, and sometimes stripping rooms.
  • Guest Services & Requests: Responding promptly to guest needs, delivering requested items to rooms, and assisting with luggage if necessary.
  • Facility Upkeep: Performing minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, cleaning carpets, and checking for maintenance issues.
  • Safety & Security: Ensuring public areas are tidy, safe, and secure. 


The Houseperson work closely with the housekeeping team and are often responsible for heavy-duty cleaning tasks that go beyond daily room cleaning.
