What You'll Do
  • Serve as a primary campus resource for HVAC controls and Building Automation System (BAS) issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair controllers, sensors, actuators, relays, VFD interfaces, communication devices, and other BAS components.
  • Diagnose and resolve BACnet and LonWorks network communication issues.
  • Replace controllers, commission devices, and perform point-to-point verification.
  • Make routine programming changes and adjustments to existing control sequences.
  • Support and maintain Niagara AX and Niagara N4 systems.
  • Monitor alarms, trends, system performance, and occupant comfort concerns.
  • Assist with startup and integration of new HVAC equipment into the BAS.
  • Verify operation of air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, VAV systems, exhaust systems, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with HVAC technicians, electricians, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, programming changes, and system configurations.
  • Recommend improvements that increase reliability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.
  • Participate in on-call or emergency response as needed.
  • Provide friendly, professional service to the university community.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in HVAC, Building Automation, Electronics, Industrial Controls, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of HVAC controls or building automation experience.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet and LonWorks.
  • Experience with Niagara AX and Niagara N4.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving HVAC controls and BAS communications.
  • Experience with controller replacement, calibration, commissioning, and field diagnostics.
  • Ability to make basic to intermediate programming changes within existing BAS systems.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and sequences of operation.
  • Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Experience
  • Higher education, healthcare, institutional, or large-campus facilities experience.
  • Niagara certification or factory training.
  • Experience with Tridium-based platforms and system integration.
  • Knowledge of energy management and building optimization.
  • Familiarity with IP networking as it relates to BAS systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple controls manufacturers and legacy systems.

Work Environment
Work may take place in mechanical rooms, rooftops, occupied buildings, confined spaces, and outdoor environments. The position may require climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and occasional after-hours or emergency response work.
