Job description

Office of Child Support

Child Support Statement: This position is in the Office of Child Support (OCS) which establishes policies and guidelines for the child support program based on federal and state laws. Ohio's child support program provides services to help ensure that children receive the financial and medical support they are legally entitled to and deserve. What You Will Do

  • Research child support policy and system information to develop training presentations and materials.

  • Deliver training to county and state child support professionals and assist in the facilitation of training sessions.

  • Perform after training session duties, including tracking attendance, reviewing evaluation feedback, and updating handouts and question and answer documents.

  • Collaborate as needed with other Office of Child Support units, ODJFS offices, and county partners to produce training.

  • Monitor a shared email inbox and respond to inquiries.

Recommended Skills:

  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to an audience, in person and/or virtually.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook.

  • Knowledge of eLearning training development software (i.e., Adobe Captivate, Articulate 360, or Lectora).

  • Familiarity of adult learning principles and passion for learning.

Schedule: Full-time

Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Location: Rhodes State Officer Tower - 30 E. Broad Street 31st Fl, Columbus, OH 43215

Travel: Travel is as needed. ODJFS may require occasional in-person meetings for training or other operational needs.

The candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

Option 1:

  • 6 courses in human resources, education, sociology, or psychology 

Option 2:

  • 18 mos. exp in preparing informational or instructional programs

AND 

  • 18 mos. trg or 18 mos. exp in public speaking or effective communications skills

AND 

  • 3 mos. trg or 3 mos. exp in operating audio-visual equipment

Option 3:

  • The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio's Pay Range 31. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $28.76 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
