This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Columbus, OH. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for building projects, with an HVAC focus area within multidisciplinary project work.

In this role, you'll support project budgets, coordinate with cross-functional teams, document project decisions, and help meet client expectations on healthcare and MEP projects. You'll contribute to highly coordinated building systems work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

Assist with the design of electrical systems for projects in accordance with code and IMEG standards.

Research commercially available equipment and supporting resources.

Support client relations, maintain the project design notebook, and provide documentation for permanent record files.

Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.

Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.

Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.

Help prepare and issue addendum information.

Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.

What You'll Bring

Required Education and Experience

Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities

Strong interest in design consulting

Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software

Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Focusing on design and consulting for building mechanical and electrical systems, we design systems to allow for the safe and efficient operation of facilities to deliver positive outcomes for people, the community, and the planet. We are highly collaborative and work closely with owners, architects, and other designers, consultants, and contractors to deliver successful projects. Some of the clients our office is currently working with include: The Ohio State University Medical Center, Ohio State Academic and Research facilities, NASA Glenn Research Center, Lexington Medical Center, University of Kentucky Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs, Whirlpool Manufacturing, Columbus State Community College, Columbus City Schools, and many others.

State of Ohio Salary Range: $22.00/hr-$24.00/hr

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
