Description:
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Vision Systems Engineer with hands-on experience in Cognex  technologies to support the implementation, integration, and troubleshooting of automated packaging and inspection systems. This role plays a key part in maintaining high standards of product quality and compliance by working closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in vision systems and automation, and a strong desire to grow their technical skills through real-world application in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or a related field)
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the configuration, testing, and validation of Cognex  systems used for packaging inspection and serialization.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to define system requirements and contribute to vision system integration projects.
  • Support the development and fine-tuning of vision inspection solutions for tasks such as defect detection, label verification, and barcode/2D code validation.
  • Troubleshoot basic to moderately complex production issues related to vision hardware, software, and control system interfaces.
  • Participate in vision system maintenance activities, including software/firmware updates, calibration, and system backups.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions related to vision system performance or inspection issues.
  • Assist in drafting and updating technical documentation such as test plans, configuration files, and validation records (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Support capital projects or equipment upgrades involving vision system deployment or optimization.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to operators, maintenance staff, and technicians.
Requirements/Skills:
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Practical experience with Cognex In-Sight, and familiarity with Systech Serialization systems.
  • Understanding of packaging equipment (e.g., labelers, cartoners, conveyors) and basic control system components.
  • Exposure to PLC-based systems (such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell) and HMIs in an automated environment.
  • Basic knowledge of GMP standards and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements, or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Preferred Skills:
  • Exposure to track-and-trace, serialization, or aggregation technologies.
  • Familiarity with maintenance systems like Maximo or other CMMS platforms.
  • Understanding of Ethernet/IP, OPC, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience or interest in basic scripting/programming (e.g., Python, VBA, or Cognex spreadsheet interface)
