Job description

Evaluation and Assessment Services 60%

Conducts comprehensive early intervention evaluations and assessments for infants and toddlers with suspected developmental delays or disabilities in accordance with federal, state, county, and program requirements.

Completes evaluations/assessments in the child's home or another agreed-upon location that is convenient and appropriate for the family.

Utilizes standardized, norm-referenced evaluation tools, professional observation, and clinical judgment to assess a child's current developmental functioning across developmental domains.

Gathers relevant information regarding the child's medical history, developmental history, current abilities, family priorities, strengths, and concerns through observation, interviews, and meaningful conversations with families.

Creates a supportive, family-centered evaluation experience that recognizes and respects each family's knowledge, culture, priorities, and expertise.

Family Communication and Evaluation Feedback 15%

Communicates evaluation and assessment results with families immediately following the evaluation process in a clear, respectful, and understandable manner.

Explains standardized scores, developmental findings, areas of strength, developmental concerns, and eligibility considerations while supporting families' understanding of the evaluation results.

Responds to family questions and provides information regarding the next steps in the Early Intervention process.

Documentation and Evaluation Reporting 15%

Completes all required evaluation, assessment, eligibility, and related documentation accurately and within established timelines.

Prepares evaluation reports and supporting documentation required for initial Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).

Collaborates with Early Intervention Service Coordinators to ensure evaluation information is transferred accurately and timely.

Presents evaluation findings during team meetings to support team decision-making regarding eligibility, IFSP development, and identification of the Primary Service Provider.

Team Collaboration and Program Support 8%

Participates as an active member of the Early Intervention evaluation team by collaborating with other professionals to review evaluation information, discuss developmental needs, and support consistent evaluation practices.

Participates in scheduled team meetings and contributes professional expertise related to child development, evaluation results, and family needs.

Provides evaluator coverage throughout Franklin County when other evaluators are unavailable due to illness, vacation, leave, or other program needs.

Effectively manages evaluation assignments, scheduling, travel, preparation, documentation, and follow-up responsibilities to ensure timely completion of evaluations.

Other Duties as Assigned 2%

Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision, and operational needs of Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Early Childhood Education program.

Provides support for special projects, program initiatives, quality improvement activities, or other department priorities as identified by leadership.

Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness in adapting to changing program needs, organizational priorities, and community expectations.
