Research Scientist will serve as an expert and scientific resource in cancer genomics, computational biology, and translational oncology within the OSUCCC research environment. This position will conceptualize, design, implement, evaluate, and direct independent and collaborative cancer research projects, including studies focused on tumor biology, molecular subtyping, cancer susceptibility, genomic instability, transcriptomic profiling, and integrative multi-omics analysis.
The Research Scientist will develop hypotheses and experimental or analytical strategies for hypothesis testing; establish, adopt, and optimize laboratory and computational methods; manage and oversee research methodologies used for data generation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; and provide scientific guidance on experimental design, molecular biology approaches, cancer genomics workflows, bioinformatics pipelines, and emerging technologies.
The position will participate as a key member of multidisciplinary research teams, collaborate with investigators to determine research priorities and plan research programs, interpret complex biological and genomic data, troubleshoot scientific and technical problems, and contribute to the development of new research directions. The Research Scientist will keep current with relevant published literature, identify new methodological and conceptual advances in cancer research, and make recommendations regarding research strategies and analytical procedures.
The Research Scientist will develop and write research manuscripts, abstracts, project reports, and grant proposals; present ongoing work and findings at institutional, national, and international conferences; and contribute to educational workshops, lectures, and seminars. The position may develop, write, and submit extramural grant proposals as principal investigator, co-investigator, or key personnel, as appropriate under institutional policy, to obtain salary and research support from external funding agencies. The Research Scientist may also administer grants, assist with budget management, and contribute to progress reports and regulatory or compliance documentation.
