Mechanical Design Engineer - Power Equipment

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Starting Salary: $60,000/year, with higher compensation available based on experience

Position Overview

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of power protection equipment, including Switchboards, Power Distribution Units, and Power Panels. This role works across engineering and business teams to develop reliable products and deliver accurate, production-ready designs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical designs and engineering documentation for new and enhanced power protection products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver quality designs on schedule and in line with project requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and verification activities; evaluate feedback and make required design changes.
  • Design and release mechanical prototypes and support prototype fabrication and subsequent improvements.
  • Independently manage smaller engineering projects and coordinate activities needed to meet project requirements.
  • Work with production, supply chain, service, and other teams to ensure designs support overall business needs.
  • Support product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization activities.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of power protection equipment and the data center market.
  • Understanding of electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC, and their application to products.
  • 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks CAD software, including thermal and structural evaluation.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing.
  • Experience with test fixture design.
  • Experience with Switchboards, Power Distribution Units, UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
  • Strong technical writing, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a team environment.
