Senior Manager – Asian Food Product Development.

Schwan’s Shared Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Schwan’s Company, seeks a Senior Manager – Asian Food Product Development at our facility in Gahanna, Ohio. Responsible for managing the Asian food product development process and new food product execution to support existing and future business objectives, to achieve long-range solutions/opportunities, and to increase speed to market. Direct and manage the development of new chicken-based Asian food products, improved products, cost improvements, and product maintenance that support existing and future business plans. Provide and manage food science solutions to manufacturing, food safety & quality, purchasing, and packaging to resolve food science issues relating to ingredients, processes, and product specifications. Work with managers to prioritize and allocate resources and to ensure that assigned members to the cross-functional team have the required competence for various new food development projects. Direct, manage, and measure the performance of staff in the areas of providing food science support or solutions to internal and external customers in the areas of product knowledge, food knowledge, product training, menu development, competitor products, product capabilities and requirements as well as sales support to promote CJ Schwan's food products or services that meet or exceed customer expectations and standards. Direct the identification and presentation of new chicken-based Asian food product platforms, new product opportunities, product improvements, or cost reduction to business units that support their existing and future business strategies. Develop, communicate, implement and manage the department budget, department goals and policies and programs to improve staff or department efficiencies, speed of response, and focus of staff activities and department operations according to business units and department strategies. Provide leadership and food science technical guidance to staff for the development of new food technology or applications and enhancement of existing food technologies. As needed, direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Evaluate and document completed projects as specified for total cost, quality, process compliance, timeliness, specification compliance and recommendations for continued food product development improvement. Prepare various project reports for business unit and department management and analyze project team reports as specified to determine team effectiveness and budget status against plan. Manage, train and develop subordinates. Other duties, as assigned. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the U.S. Requirements – Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Food Science and Technologyor a closely related field OR a Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Food Science and Technology or closely related field. For candidates with the qualifying bachelor’s degree, at least ten years of experience as an R&D Scientist, Senior R&D Scientist, Food Scientist, Dough Scientist, Food Sr. Researcher or similar position developing chicken-based Asian food products at a food manufacturer and distributor. For candidates with the qualifying master’s degree, at least eight years of experience as an R&D Scientist, Senior R&D Scientist, Food Scientist, Dough Scientist, Food Sr. Researcher or similar position developing chicken-based Asian food products at a food manufacturer and distributor. Work from home, one day a week, in the Columbus, Ohio area is permitted but not required. Minimal domestic travel– 10%. The salary for this position has a range of $86,091 to $142,500, with standard employee benefits.
