Position Overview

As a Survey Manager, you will play an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for a safe, accurate and efficient Survey Department. You will have responsibilities over contractual requirements, design model review and field survey operations.  You will have responsibilities over contractual requirements, design model review and field survey operations, and should plan to spend about 30% of your time in the field observing and instructing the survey operations.

District Overview

Kiewit's Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast.  We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit's Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.
Kiewit's Eastern District primarily performs heavy civil projects in infrastructure & energy, specializing in transportation, roadways, rail, power and water/wastewater while developing builders to lead the future of our company.

Location

This is a travel-based position. The individual will not be required to relocate, but will be expected to travel extensively. This individual will be placed on a turnaround schedule. 

Responsibilities

Contractual Requirements:
Includes knowing the PLS requirements for the project, what specific surveys are required for the design, as-built, monumentation and layout.

Design Model Review:
    Conducted to ensure the accuracy of the files prior to being used for survey field calculations. Coordinate with the designer the file types required for survey operations.
    Establish regular meetings with the designer to review and plan for design survey requests and design model file progression.

Field Survey Operations:
    Staffing of the survey department along with personnel and equipment schedules.
    Establish a project survey plan and outline specific field and office procedures.
    Oversee the operation with periodic reviews of record keeping, field procedures and survey audits to ensure that all work is performed in an efficient and professional manner.
    Maintain the official set of plans for the survey department.
    Provide weekly staff training sessions to ensure a competent and qualified staff.

Qualifications

    Ability to travel and relocate as needed
    Bachelor's degree is preferred
    5-10 years' experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field is required
    Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage)
    Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams
    Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity
    Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Suite
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team
    Committed to working safe and getting the job done right the first time

    Will manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle stress and immediate deadlines
    Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management
    Possible travel throughout the U.S. and internationally
    Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds
    Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hours
