Job description

Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus.

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Ohio Wesleyan University is seeking one part-time Spanish Instructor to teach three introductory-level Spanish courses during the Fall 2026 semester.

These courses are taught on campus and meet four times per week for 50 minutes each session on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There may also be an opportunity to teach between one and three courses during the Spring 2027 semester. The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education, native or near-native fluency in Spanish, and prior college-level teaching experience. As a residential liberal arts institution, Ohio Wesleyan University delivers all instruction in a face-to-face, in-person environment. Online courses are not offered during the fall and spring semesters.

Compensation is $5,000 per course. This position is not benefits eligible.

If you decide to join the Dept. of World Languages and Cultures you will:

  • Become part of a dynamic, supportive, and collaborative team of instructors who are committed to their students and to excellence in language teaching.
  • Join a liberal arts college that is deeply committed to creating an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
  • Teach small classes (up to 22 students per class).
  • Be mentored by and receive support from the Chair of the department as needed.
  • Have an office space for use while you’re on campus.
  • Receive a free parking pass that allows you to park anywhere on campus.

To apply, please submit a cover letter expressing your interest in the position and a current curriculum vitae, including the names and contact information of three professional references, to Dr. Eva Paris (eeparish@owu.edu), Chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures.

The Fall 2026 semester begins on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and will be accepted until the position is filled.
