Job Opportunity

Unit Information

This is a mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit specializing in medical oncology care. The unit consists of approximately 24 beds designated for PCU and 24 beds for MS Tele, providing a dynamic environment for patient care.

Schedule

Staff accepting a rotating contract may be scheduled for day or night shifts, or a combination of both, depending on departmental needs. Shift assignments are evaluated every four weeks, though changes are not guaranteed and will be based on staffing priorities.

Patient Diagnoses

This unit cares for a variety of patients, including those with solid tumors and certain blood cancers. The patient population is characterized by high acuity levels.

While chemotherapy competence is beneficial, it is not required as the unit offers a two-day chemotherapy training course for interested staff.

Special Procedures/Unit Details

  • Pediatric patients are rarely treated in this unit and will primarily be managed by permanent staff. Pediatric experience is not a requirement for agency RN roles.
  • There is a strong emphasis on infection prevention and fall protocols.

Requirements
  • Two years of inpatient nursing experience required; oncology experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
  • Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity levels.
  • Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.

Staffing Ratios
