Job description

The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University seeks a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to serve as its senior leader and chief fundraising strategist. Reporting jointly to the Dean of the Fisher College of Business and the Senior Associate Vice President of Development, the CAO will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all fundraising, alumni engagement, donor experience, and stewardship efforts.

Founded in 1870, The Ohio State University is one of the nation's leading public research universities, serving more than 67,000 students with annual research expenditures exceeding $1.6 billion. The Fisher College of Business serves approximately 10,000 students and more than 93,000 alumni worldwide. As the college enters a period of transformational growth, the next Chief Advancement Officer will play a central role in helping shape Fisher's future.

This is a compelling opportunity for a proven advancement leader to build upon a strong foundation, elevate philanthropic performance, and help shape the future of one of the nation's leading business schools. The CAO will lead the Fisher College of Business's Office of Advancement, a team of approximately eight advancement professionals that is expanding in anticipation of a transformational capital campaign focused on the future of business education.

During the first three years, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Build a best-in-class advancement organization positioned for long-term success. Partner with the Dean to launch a transformational capital fundraising effort, including a $75 million campaign to build the future of business education Expand alumni engagement while strengthening volunteer leadership and corporate partnerships. Help tell Fisher's story and position the college among the nation's premier public business schools.

The CAO will provide strategic oversight of key volunteer bodies, including the Dean's Advisory Council and Alumni Advisory Board. Working in close partnership with the Dean, faculty leadership, and central advancement, the CAO will develop and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with institutional priorities while serving as a trusted advisor on fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and volunteer leadership. The successful candidate will build authentic partnerships across the college, university, business community, and alumni network while serving as a trusted advisor to the Dean and an influential leader across Ohio State.

In this role, the CAO will build and manage a robust portfolio of major and principal gift prospects while providing leadership and direction to the team in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding transformational philanthropic investments. The CAO will foster an integrated advancement program that aligns fundraising, alumni engagement, stewardship, marketing, and communications around the college's strategic priorities. Success will require balancing long-term strategic vision with operational execution and delivering measurable outcomes that support the college's ambitious fundraising goals.
