Job Description

This role supports the fabrication of sheet metal plenums used in data center towers to transfer heat from units through the roof. You will assist welders and fabricators by using hand and power tools to assemble plenums and related components in a production and manufacturing environment. The work involves basic assembly tasks, handling sheet metal materials, and following instructions and simple drawings to help ensure high-quality, timely completion of customer orders.

Responsibilities

• Assist welders and fabricators with the assembly of sheet metal plenums used in data center towers.
• Use basic hand tools and power tools, such as drills, to assemble components according to instructions.
• Handle sheet metal materials safely in an outdoor yard and production environment.
• Perform general construction and fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, and fitting materials as directed.
• Support installation and assembly activities such as framing, stud assembly, and rough carpentry where needed.
• Follow production processes and manufacturing standards to meet quality and efficiency expectations.
• Read and follow simple blueprints or layout drawings under guidance to complete assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily and weekly production goals.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with sheet metal and tools.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work comfortably with tools and machinery.
• Ability to stand, sit, and crouch for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Comfort working in a construction, production, or manufacturing environment.
• Basic proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including drills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team to complete assembly tasks.
• Willingness to work extended shifts of 10–12 hours Monday through Friday during initial project phases.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with assembly work in a construction, manufacturing, or fabrication setting.
• mechanic or in mechanical repair roles.
• Experience working with sheet metal, including roofing, siding, duct work, or sheet metal fabrication.
• Exposure to carpentry, wood working, flooring, framing, rough carpentry, or farm hand work.
• Experience in commercial construction or HVAC-related installation and duct work.
• Ability to interpret basic blueprints or layout drawings.
• Comfort with tasks such as window installation, stud assembly, and general construction installs.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in an outdoor yard environment while a dedicated space is secured for the new contract work. You will work a day shift starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 3:30 PM, with extended 10–12 hour shifts Monday through Friday for approximately the first four weeks, and an emphasis on avoiding Saturday work whenever possible. The setting is a hands-on production and fabrication environment where sheet metal, structural components, and related materials are handled regularly. You will use a variety of hand tools and power tools, including drills and other common construction and fabrication equipment. The work is physically active, requiring regular standing, sitting, crouching, and moving materials in an outdoor industrial yard.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gahanna, OH.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
