General Description and Qualifications The City of Grove City is currently seeking a Part-time Facility Maintenance Technician for our expanding Public Service Department. The Facility Maintenance Technician, under the immediate supervision of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor or Crew Leader, is responsible for performing routine and semi-skilled tasks involving general maintenance of City facilities, equipment and grounds.
Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. Completion of secondary education (high school or GED). Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License and must be able to qualify and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy.

Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to one to three years construction or facility maintenance trades. Basic knowledge of HVAC equipment, building mechanical systems and components (water pumps, heat pumps, filtration), and fire panel operations highly preferred. Note to applicants: The schedule for this role is Monday-Wednesday 7am-4pm and Thursday 7am-11am for a total of 28 hours per week.
Essential Functions of the Position The Facility Maintenance Technician shall have the following duties under the direction of their immediate supervisor: Performs basic plumbing repairs (repairing leaks, unclogging drains, etc.). Performs basic electrical work (replacing electrical receptacles and light switches). Painting, installing door hardware, replacing floor tile, etc
Troubleshooting. Follows PM procedures (lock out/tag out). Performs routine checks of life safety equipment (fire extinguishers, AED's, Egress lights).
Inspects equipment and tools prior to operating to ensure safety. Performs cleaning duties necessary to maintain facilities when required. Assists with after hour emergency calls.
Assists with snow removal from sidewalks, building entrances and parking lots of all City owned and operated facilities and parking lots as needed. Operates and maintains City owned equipment and vehicles as assigned. Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Prepares and submits records of work completed in a timely manner. Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor or Crew Leader. Obeys and promptly executes all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
Working Conditions and Equipment Operated The employee: works with heavy equipment; works around motorized equipment; is exposed to environmental conditions, exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85 decibels; exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, air contaminants; is exposed to wet walking surfaces; works in inclement weather conditions (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, etc.); is exposed to dirt, dust, and odor; works with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines (e.g., mowers, saws, etc.); may occasionally be exposed to other hazardous or physically demanding working conditions experienced by divisional personnel; employee may exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and exposed to vehicular traffic when working in the public right-of-way. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered heavy work
Backhoe, loader, street sweeper, skid steer, snowplow, tractors, mowers, and other related equipment; saws, jackhammer, crack sealer, roller, chipper, light and heavy-duty motorized trucks, hand and power tools (e.g., chainsaw, air wrench, etc.).
