Job description

Driver, Class A - A-Shift M-F 6:00am-2:30PM

New Albany

Nearest Major Market: Columbus Nearest Secondary Market: Dublin

Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip
  • Following all applicable laws and company policy
  • Accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of vehicles
  • Interacting with warehouse supervisors and complying with warehouse safety requirements
  • Communicating with operations and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maneuvering trucks into loading and unloading position
  • Using safety wheel chocks and jack stands as needed
  • Following all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned
  • Inspecting and performing minor maintenance on the equipment
  • Maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard

Other duties include:

  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Working overtime as dictated by business

Supervisory responsibilities include:

  • None

Minimum required qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Class A CDL w/Hazmat endorsement
  • Minimum 2 years of verified tractor-trailer experience within the past 4 years
  • Clean driving record
  • DOT physical requirements and valid medical certificate
  • Pass road and backing test during onboarding

Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Basic computer skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Basic math
  • Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a group
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance
  • Ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment

Physical demands include:

  • Reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel
  • 11-20 pounds Ability to Lift/Carry and Push/Pull
  • Sitting Constantly
  • Walking and Standing Frequently
  • Bending Occasionally
