Job description
Overview
16 hours/week. Works under the direction of the Non-Invasive Diagnostics Supervisor for The Heart Center and the Electrophysiology Medical Director. Performs diagnostic procedures provided by the Non-Invasive Diagnostics Department; and oversees the daily operation of Holter monitor analysis and report facilitation. Assists in operation of the Exercise Lab and Cardiac Rehab service line in direct collaboration with the Exercise Physiologist role.
Essential Functions
- Ability to detect heart arrhythmias and recognize emergency conditions where immediate intervention is necessary.
- Detects arrhythmias and conduction disturbances and records heart actions for diagnosis.
- Conducts numerous diagnostic testing covering a wide range of patient conditions and ages.
- Creates documentation as a guide to coach others in developing diagnostic procedural skills.
- Analyzes data from heart monitoring devices utilizing analysis software; also assists in the facilitation of other monitor types such as long‐term and 30‐day event monitors.
- Analyzes heart rhythm and metabolic data from diagnostic tests.
- Describes key components of monitoring patients' responses and reactions during cardiac testing.
- Performs equipment calibration and maintenance of cardiology equipment.
Education Requirement
Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, required.
Licensure Requirement
Not specified.
Certifications
- CPR, PALS, and ACLS Certifications, required.
- ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification, preferred.
Skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with patients of all ages (pediatric to adult).
- Ability to function with flexibility and adaptability to an ever changing and fast paced environment.
Experience
Two years of experience in a Cardiology healthcare setting, preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally: exposure to fume/gases/vapors; lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs; reaching above shoulder; audible speech; computer skills; hand use including grasping, gripping, turning, pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs; sitting, standing, walking.
- Continuously: handling biohazard waste, exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, color vision, decision making, depth perception, neck flexion/extending, hearing acuity, data interpretation, patient equipment, peripheral vision, problem solving, repetitive hand/arm use, vision (far/near).
- For patient safety, may need to intervene by physically assisting the patient to a safe environment.
