Job Summary
The Global Security Operations Center Operator, working under direct supervision, is responsible for operating the Global Security Operations Center and serving as the primary point of contact for all Battelle operations, 24/7. This role assists company personnel with safety and security concerns worldwide, monitors and analyzes risks impacting global operations, and takes appropriate actions to mitigate those risks. The Operator coordinates and dispatches internal and external resources in response to incidents, ranging from minor local situations to complex critical events, in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage a variety of technology platforms to ensure the protection of personnel and corporate infrastructure, and effectively manage incidents and events as required. The Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) software and systems include access control, intrusion alarms, life safety, video surveillance, radio dispatch, global risk management, travel tracking, mass communications, incident reporting, and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Monitor and investigate life safety and security alarm activity across Battelle locations. Dispatch appropriate internal resources and public sector agencies to support response efforts. Communicate protective actions, such as evacuation or shelter-in-place procedures, as needed. Establish call bridges for risk event teams and prepare and distribute comprehensive incident reports.
  • Analyze and respond to global risk events impacting assets and operations. Utilize risk assessment tools to accurately evaluate emerging and developing information.
  • Convey relevant and critical information concisely and accurately to inform key leaders and stakeholders of potential business disruptions and notify employees of life safety concerns and recommended protective actions.
  • Proactively monitor security systems to detect suspicious activity. Dispatch appropriate internal and external resources to support response. Prepare and distribute detailed incident reports.
  • Manage access to restricted and high-security areas using door and gate control systems.
  • Report security system issues and malfunctions promptly to ensure timely resolution and corrective action.
  • Resolve routine operational challenges efficiently.
  • Adhere to established standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Seek guidance and coaching from peers and supervisors to continuously develop professional skills.

Key Qualifications
  • Associate degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in Military, Law Enforcement, Government, Corporate Security.
  • Prior experience in a security operations center or similar environment highly preferred. This can include a commercial alarm-monitoring center, law enforcement operations center, security command center, engineering systems control or similar monitoring and customer service.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to reach quick conclusions and approaches to problems.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure, courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Comfortable with the latest technology, and eager to learn new tools and new innovations.
  • Must be willing to work in support of a 24/7/365 operation that includes the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Eligibility to obtain and keep a Secret level security clearance.
  • Must have successfully completed new hire security training.
