Endoscopy Registered Nurse (PRN)

The job description for the Endoscopy Registered Nurse incorporates the summary and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse job description and the specific duties listed below. The Endoscopy Staff Nurse is accountable and responsible for direct patient care in the endoscopy suite. The Endoscopy Staff Nurse reports to the Operating Room Manager, Director of Nursing and the Administrator. The Endoscopy Registered Nurse may act as Charge Nurse in the absence of the Endoscopy Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assessment and observation of the patient upon arrival in endoscopy.
  • Formulate nursing diagnosis.
  • Provide assessment documentation that reflects the full range of patient needs.
  • Individualize the plan of care, based on patient assessment.
  • Prepare endoscopy rooms, equipment, and supplies to accommodate the patient load.
  • Assist physicians with procedures (role of scrub or circulator).
  • Provide patient education.
  • Monitor the patient before and during the procedure.
  • Administer medications for sedation as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current licensure in this State (OH) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Progressive work experience in Endoscopy Room which reflects current clinical skills
  • Current BLS certification; PALS and ACLS mandatory within six (6) months date of hire.
  • Competence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment etc.
