Job description

What You'll Do:

This role will lead statewide public health and emergency preparedness programs. This role oversees public health consultants and planning staff, manages preparedness grants, collaborates with health partners, and ensures Ohio's readiness for emergencies. Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical assistance to hospitals, local health departments, and internal ODH offices.
  • Manage Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP), ASPR, Crisis NOFO, and other preparedness-related funding.
  • Develop grant-related policies and financial guidance.
  • Prepare documentation and submit federal grant applications.
  • Develop grant solicitations and evaluate/review applications.
  • Monitor ODH budgets alignment with grant requirements.
  • Oversee administrative procedures, training schedules, and staff tracking.
  • Develop administrative preparedness plans, training, and exercises with federal, state, regional, and local partners.
  • Lead planning, evaluation, training, and performance improvement activities.
  • Track and evaluate program data; provide recommendations to BHP leadership.
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff, lead recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Identify emerging issues and recommend solutions.
  • 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in assigned program area (i.e., emergency management, natural resources, environmental science, community planning, public or business administration) AND

  • 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations AND

  • must be able to provide own transportation.

  • Completion of undergraduate major core program in emergency management, natural resources, environmental science, community planning, public or business administration AND

  • 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in disaster services & emergency operations AND

  • must be able to provide own transportation.

  • 2 yrs. exp. as Disaster Services Consultant 2, 64912; 

  • must be able to provide own transportation. 

Or 

  • 1 yr. exp. as Disaster Services Supervisor, 64914; must be able to provide own transportation.
