Job description

Job Description Summary:

Provides direct pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, family members/significant others and staff throughout the hospital. Usually this involves development of a "parish" within the hospital. Shares in other activities such as invocations at operating unit functions upon request of management, crisis intervention, 24/7 on-call responsibilities, providing hospital-wide worship experiences, and representing OhioHealth Mission & Ministry throughout the community.

Responsibilities And Duties:

60%

Provides ongoing, "hands-on" ministry to patients, families and staff. Includes, but is not limited to: spiritual care, prayer, sacramental ministry, responding to codes.

20%

Serves as a contact person or liaison between local clergy, patients, families and staff. Assists in responding to requests for workshops, lectures, etc. from hospital/church/community. Shares responsibilities for providing a variety of worship services as appropriate. Assists coordinator of hospital volunteers in scheduling and overseeing ministry of volunteer chaplains.

Shares rotation of all "on-call" responsibilities as needed.

10%

Participates as a member of interdisciplinary teams and serves on select hospital committees.

As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Additional Job Description:

Knowledge of pastoral care skills, especially as practiced within the hospital setting and in crisis situations. Three years ministry Experience . Comfortable in providing inclusive ministry in a broadly ecumenical and interfaith setting.
