Position Summary
We are seeking hardworking, dependable individuals to join our team as Geotechnical Driller's Assistants. This is a hands-on position supporting geotechnical drilling operations for construction, transportation, environmental, and engineering projects. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced drillers and field personnel, assisting with drilling operations, equipment maintenance, site setup, and sample handling. No geology or drilling experience is required-we are willing to train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. This is not a desk job. If you enjoy working outdoors, traveling, operating equipment, and staying active throughout the day, this may be the career for you.
Responsibilities
  • Assist geotechnical drillers with daily drilling operations.
  • Load, unload, and organize drilling equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Handle soil and rock samples as directed by project personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area around drilling equipment.
  • Assist with drill rig setup, operation, and breakdown.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and support equipment.
  • Drive company pickup trucks and tow utility trailers as needed.
  • Follow all company, client, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Work effectively as part of a field crew in changing conditions.

Work Environment
This is a physically demanding outdoor position that requires:
  • Frequent travel, often spending up to five days per week away from home. Extended runs longer than five days on occasion.
  • Typical workdays of 10+ hours, with occasional longer shifts.
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Working on construction sites, roadways, airports, and undeveloped properties.
  • Working on and around heavy equipment, including geotechnical drill rigs.
  • Regular lifting of 85+ pounds.
  • Standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and carrying equipment throughout the workday.
  • Early morning starts and overnight travel.

Qualifications
Preferred
  • Experience in construction, drilling, landscaping, utility work, farming, trucking, military service, or other outdoor labor positions.
  • Experience towing trailers or operating equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.

Required
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to drive a pickup truck and tow a utility trailer.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work extended hours.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work on a daily basis.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and client-required drug screenings and background checks.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
