The Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator is responsible for operating HDD rigs (Vermeer), ensuring adherence to safety standards, and performing maintenance on equipment. This role involves working in various ground conditions and requires collaboration with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities
  • Operate horizontal directional drill rig and provide training and assistance to coworkers
  • Adhere to all manufacturer operational procedures and industry safety standards
  • Perform maintenance of equipment fluid levels, etc.
  • Understand various ground conditions: rock, clay, sand, cobble, etc.
  • Operate excavation equipment
  • Perform routine labor (potholing, equipment setup, conduit, duct, cable placement, set pedestals) as required
  • Possess experience operating a utility locator
  • Assure all located utilities that are in the construction path have been potholed
  • Follow job blueprints provided by manager
  • Ensure cleanliness of job sites
  • Work efficiently and complete work in a timely manner
  • Ensure accountability of all tools and materials
  • Requirements
  • Must have valid driver's license Class A CDL
  • Must be able to pass drug and background screening
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, homeowners, and customers
