Job description

Welding Engineer – Robotic Welding
Travel: 30–50%
Compensation is based on experience: $100k-160k 

Position Overview
Seeking a Welding Engineer to support the development, testing, and optimization of advanced robotic welding systems. This role will work closely with welding and robotics engineers on weld parameter development, robotic welding experiments, motion planning, and customer applications.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and test welding parameters including voltage, wire speed, and travel speed.
  • Conduct robotic welding experiments and troubleshoot weld quality.
  • Partner with robotics engineers on robot motion, path planning, and automated welding strategies.
  • Test sensors, inspection systems, welding processes, and new robotic hardware.
  • Fabricate and weld test coupons for application testing.
  • Operate robotic welding cells and perform manual welding when needed.
  • Support customer applications and travel approximately 30–50%.
Must Have
  • Must Have: 3+ years of experience developing robotic welding procedures in an industrial environment.
  • Must Have: Experience with industrial robotics including Yaskawa, ABB, KUKA, and/or FANUC.
  • Must Have: Experience developing welding parameters for carbon steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum.
  • Strong knowledge of weld symbols, drawings, and print interpretation.
Highly Preferred
  • Highly Preferred: Hands-on experience with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and/or SMAW.
  • Highly Preferred: Experience with robotic welding cells, automated welding systems, sensors, or inspection equipment.
  • Highly Preferred: Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) and welding process optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting robotic welding applications in a manufacturing environment.
