Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology unit position specializing in acute leukemia and hematology care, requiring an OH or compact RN license and 2+ years of nursing experience.
Details
- Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital environment, specifically 15E - Acute Leukemia and Hematology
- Care for adult and geriatric patients, primarily those newly diagnosed with acute leukemia
- Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be up to 1:5
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Rotating 12-hour day/night contracts possible, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
- Epic EMR experience required
- Chemo certification not required for this role
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with current acute care experience in the applied specialty within the last 12 months
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Skills required: MS/Tele, telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Oncology experience preferred, though training will be provided for oncology patients
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Special focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any facility within the system
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract
