Description
Under general supervision, supervise construction of Utilities Department facilities. Supervise and coordinate inspection of water and sanitary sewer lines and connections. Under direct supervision inspect the installation of sewer and water connections and underground pipes. Perform various construction and maintenance tasks.
Duties
  • Check S.C.A.D.A. for plant malfunctions and respond as needed. Preform routine maintenance in conjunction with plant operations. Change lubrication in plant equipment. Operate the tanker for sludge removal and baffle cleaning. Assist plant maintenance with procedures requiring 2 people.
  • Inspect and oversee construction of water and wastewater lines and facilities. Verify accuracy of structural layout. Verify alignment and elevation. Ensure plans and county specifications are met. Record materials received and compute monthly estimates of progress completed. Attend progress meetings. Address construction and landscaping complaints
  • Repair process control equipment. Install, inspect and service electro/chemical monitoring equipment. Maintain, repair and calibrate diagnostic equipment.
  • Mark locations of sanitary sewers and water mains. Inspect and oversee construction of water and wastewater lines and facilities. Verify accuracy of structural layout. Verify alignment and elevation. Ensure plans and county specifications are met. Record materials received and computed monthly estimates of progress completed. Attend progress meetings. Address construction and landscaping complaints
  • Final connection inspection of sanitary sewer laterals and water service connections. Keep tap permits orderly and up to date. Inspect sanitary sewer and water main installation. Inspect contractor's emergency repairs. Accurately annotate measurements of line and service locations based on landmarks. Coordinate final restoration of projects. Customer service calls.
  • Oil, grease, change filters, inspect belts on water and wastewater equipment, lawn mowers and trimmers. Maintain grounds at facilities, i.e., mow grass, trim shrubs, kill weeds. Operate heavy equipment, i.e., tanker truck, dump truck and frontend loader.
  • Assist Construction or Maintenance Supervisor on various tasks of inspection, repairs and new installation of equipment and programs.

OTHER FUNCTIONS: Other related duties as assigned. All Duties Performed Within +/-5%
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brake endorsement.
1 year experience as a Collection/Distribution 1, related course work and skills demonstration
Valid Ohio Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability to repair and maintain oil cooled engines, to operate heavy equipment. Knowledge of water and wastewater line and connection requirements; of the operation of water and wastewater reclamation facilities. Knowledge of water and water reclamation processes and equipment/construction needs; of water main and sanitary sewer line construction. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of state and county construction requirements.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of settings. Job may require on call, nights and weekend work in adverse weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous gases and chemicals is possible. Using safety procedures and common sense will keep you safe.
