Role Description The Academic Tutor role at Prep Academy Tutors is a part-time contractor position based in Greater Columbus, OH. In this role, the tutor provides individualized instruction to students in one-on-one or small-group settings, following curriculum guidelines and adapting lesson plans to meet each learner’s academic goals and learning style. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering private classes, assessing student understanding, assigning and reviewing practice work, and preparing students for classroom tests and standardized assessments. The tutor maintains regular communication with parents or guardians to discuss progress, areas for improvement, and strategies for continued success. The role also involves collaborating with Prep Academy Tutors’ team to ensure consistent quality of instruction and alignment with educational best practices.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective Private Classes and individualized instruction tailored to diverse learner needs.
  • Strong background in Education, including knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and student assessment.
  • Excellent Communication skills for interacting with students, families, and colleagues in a clear, respectful, and collaborative manner.
  • Proven experience in Tutoring, academic coaching, or classroom teaching in K–12 or postsecondary settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification or licensure preferred.
  • Ability to develop engaging lesson plans, manage time effectively, and track student progress with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment and maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality.
