Job description

Role Overview

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) supports scientific exchange by providing in-depth, up-to-date medical and scientific information about specific disease states, Lilly and competitive compounds, and the therapeutic area landscape; provides strategic feedback from interactions to inform research and commercialization.

Responsibilities
  • Scientific knowledge: Engage in continuous learning; provide unbiased, accurate, up-to-date medical/scientific information.
  • Customer engagement: Spend majority of time on customer-facing activities; serve as primary interface between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs; connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources/internal partners; facilitate collaborative research and external opportunities.
  • Territory ownership: Create and execute strategic territory plan; prioritize core activities; use territory analytics for customer identification and routing; ensure compliant partnerships across field roles.
  • Strategic vision and leadership: Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal and cross-functional teams; use good judgment and elevate issues; collaborate across functions.
  • Team/Compliance: Demonstrate Team Lilly Behaviors; contribute to team goals; execute role compliantly with internal/external requirements, procedures, and laws.
Basic Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD/MD/PhD) required; 2–3 years relevant clinical/therapeutic area experience desired.
  • OR bachelor’s/master’s in health sciences (e.g., BSN/RPh/PA/NP) considered with 5+ years clinical/research/industry experience in relevant therapeutic area.
  • Valid US driver’s license; acceptable driving record.
  • Authorized to work in the US full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization.
Additional Preferences
  • Neuroscience therapeutic area experience.
  • Travel up to 80%; work 4–6 weekends/year.
  • Live near a transport hub.
  • Intellectual curiosity; learning agility; self-directed; strong presentation/computer skills; strategic/critical thinking; excellent verbal/written communication; use field-based electronic tools; resiliency; high emotional intelligence/networking; experience servicing complex customer needs; field-based experience; familiarity with health systems/academia/medical research and education processes.
Benefits (as stated)
  • Anticipated wage: $156,000–$250,800; bonus eligibility; comprehensive benefits including 401(k)/pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision/prescription coverage, flexible benefits, life insurance, time off/leave, and well-being benefits.
