Job description

Growing National firm looking to add a talented Engineering Manager – Substation Design to their Columbus team!


Responsibilities
  • Direct/facilitate the design of high-voltage substations (15kV to 500 kV) using design software
  • Ensure client standards and applicable design codes/specifications are met
  • Manage drawing development workflows and CAD-based design operations, ensuring alignment with project goals, quality benchmarks, and team performance
  • Mentor/train junior staff to promote team growth, skill development, and knowledge transfer
  • Ensure QA/QC standards for the department to manage risk, and ensure quality outcomes
  • Build/maintain client relationships to ensure long-term partnerships and meet business goals
  • Manage tasks between multiple departments to optimize task execution across teams, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget targets are met/exceeded


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering or engineering technology
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Proficient in working with AutoCAD, ACADE, or Inventor
  • Experience in the design of substation physical structures, wiring, and controls
  • Ability to comprehend/interpret safety codes, utility standards and regulations
  • Expert-level analytical and organizational skills with a focus on solving problems that impact quality, budget, and risk
  • Ability to manage cross-functional collaboration, align teams, and ensure project success across disciplines
  • Exceptional communication skills
