About the Job

GFS Chemicals is seeking a Marketing Specialist to join our RAC Division at our Powell location. The Marketing Specialist supports the planning, development, coordination, and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across channels, including email, social media, and web. The role conducts market, customer, and competitor research, analyzes trends and campaign performance and prepares reports and recommendations to inform marketing strategy and sales priorities. We are looking for someone who specifically has a background with companies that sell products rather than services.

This role tracks sales data and works with product management and marketing to achieve business goals. They oversee the marketing portfolio and brand guidelines across all platforms. This role is specifically responsible for both internal and external company graphic design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Marketing team to populate the necessary content and support marketing campaigns and promotions with appropriate email, social media and online offers.
  • Perform market and competitor analyses and understand customer needs relative to GFS’ competitive strengths and weaknesses for products and/or market segments.
  • Conduct research to analyze competitive landscape, market trends and customer behavior and prepare reports by collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data.
  • Support the Marketing Manager in establishing and evaluating a marketing strategy and plan by analyzing and assembling sales forecasts, creating and maintaining content strategies and calendars, specifically for email marketing and social media, and organizing and planning promotional presentations.
  • Assist with posting, monitoring and analyzing social media outlets on behalf of the company.
  • Develop original visual assets for print, web, and digital marketing channels, including illustrations, layouts, website designs, and social media graphics.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite to produce high‑quality, brand‑consistent marketing materials, collaborating with internal marketing stakeholders to translate concepts into polished visual designs.
  • Prepare flyers, brochures, web images and catalogs as needed by gathering and studying competitor materials and assisting in designing rough layouts to meet best practices and adheres to core design principles
  • Communicate campaign deliverables, objectives and timelines to the team while providing instructions for promotion or use.
  • Understand how creative elements perform for each unique advertising and channel goal (traffic, conversions and engagement).
  • Support trade shows, conferences, events, and meetings specifically by way of social media, email and graphic design support.
  • Maintain an inventory and directory of sales support materials making sure all resources are accurate and current while coordinating new material creation as needed.
  • Continually seek and research new sources of prospective customers while providing recommendations to marketing and sales leadership.
  • Develop strategic marketing initiatives and activities within graphic design and across channels, including social media and email, aligning with the company’s goals.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans across owned digital channels.
  • Create, maintain, and strengthen the organization’s overall brand through all media avenues.
  • Take direction from Sales and Division leadership on priorities, timetables, and expectations.
  • Adheres to all internal ISO procedures regarding change control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree Marketing or a related field required.
    • 3 – 4 years of experience in content management, creative writing, advertising concepts and media negotiations preferred.
    • Previous work in the chemical field a plus or sales experience a plus.
  • Core Skills:
    • Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to comprehend and interpret competitor strategies and consumer behavior.
    • Expert knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS).
    • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write effective marketing copy for web, email, and promotional materials that align with brand standards and business objectives.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and workload.
    • Strong knowledge of industry-standard design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with potential experience in Figma.
    • Has a solid understanding of typography, layout, color theory, visual communication, and other design principles.
    • Attend tradeshows or events as needed.
