Our client is seeking an Analyst โ€“ Financial Analysis, Pricing & Profitability to join its team in Columbus, Ohio. This full-time position is part of the Finance Department and plays an integral role in supporting financial analytics, pricing, and profitability initiatives.

General Description

The Analyst โ€“ Financial Analysis, Pricing & Profitability supports financial analytics, pricing, and profitability initiatives across the organization. Working closely with financial leadership and key stakeholders, this position delivers accurate, timely, and actionable analysis that supports data-driven decision-making.

The Analyst will develop financial models, conduct profitability and pricing analyses, and prepare reporting across clients, matters, practice groups, and professionals. This opportunity is well suited for a detail-oriented and analytically curious professional interested in developing expertise in professional-services economics, pricing strategy, and financial performance management.

The position provides significant exposure to leadership through participation in strategic financial and profitability initiatives. The analysis produced in this role will help inform business strategy, pricing decisions, resource allocation, and long-term financial performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Financial & Operational Analysis
  • Develop and manage recurring and ad- hoc financial reporting related to revenue, profitability, realization, utilization, leverage, and cost drivers across matters, clients, practice groups, offices, and professionals.
  • Support profitability analysis by compiling and validating direct costs, labor costs, and overhead allocations.
  • Build and maintain Excel financial models supporting budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis, including rate changes, staffing mix, and hiring assumptions.
  • Prepare financial analyses and presentation materials for organizational, practice group, industry group, and operational leadership.
Pricing Support
  • Develop pricing analyses for new matters and alternative fee arrangements using historical performance, assumptions, and sensitivity scenarios.
  • Assist with matter scoping and post-matter reviews by comparing estimated and actual performance and identifying key variance drivers.
  • Compile financial data and analysis supporting proposals and RFP responses.
Profitability & Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor financial performance across the organization, practice groups, and individual matters.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and potential improvement opportunities involving pricing, staffing, and profitability.
  • Translate financial findings into clear, decision-ready summaries and exhibits for stakeholders.
Strategic Analysis Support
  • Analyze the potential financial impact and profitability associated with prospective professional hires.
  • Support data gathering and financial modeling and monitor post-integration financial performance.
Data Integrity & Process Improvement
  • Help maintain the accuracy and consistency of financial data used for analysis and reporting.
  • Investigate discrepancies and collaborate with appropriate teams to resolve data issues.
  • Contribute to improvements in reporting efficiency, business intelligence, automation, and overall data quality.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field required.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, pricing, FP&A, business analytics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience within a professional services environment, such as legal services, consulting, accounting, or a similar field, strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial modeling.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and identify meaningful trends, patterns, and business insights.
  • Familiarity with financial, timekeeping, or billing systems is a plus.
  • Interest in professional-services economics, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated initiative, analytical problem-solving skills, and an interest in continued growth within financial analytics, pricing, and profitability.
