Job Description: Intervention Specialist (K–12 Mild to Moderate)

Liberty Christian Academy

Location: Pataskala, Ohio

Reports To: Principal / Director of Intervention Services

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

Liberty Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to support students with mild to moderate disabilities in grades K–12. This role is vital to advancing our mission of providing a Christ-centered, inclusive educational environment where every student is valued and equipped to succeed academically, socially, and spiritually.

The Intervention Specialist will design and deliver individualized instruction, ensuring that all students are supported in reaching their God-given potential while receiving services aligned with federal and Ohio state regulations.

Qualifications:

Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License (K–12 Mild to Moderate)

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Ohio Operating Standards

Experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions

Obtain a current FBI/BCI background check

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Instruction & Student Support

Provide specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and Ohio Learning Standards

Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs

Deliver evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions

Support students in both inclusive and small-group settings

Encourage student growth academically, socially, and spiritually

IEP Development & Compliance

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Ensure compliance with all timelines, documentation, and legal requirements

Facilitate IEP meetings, Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), and progress monitoring

Maintain accurate and confidential student records

Collaboration & Communication

Partner with general education teachers to support inclusion and co-teaching

Communicate regularly and compassionately with families

Collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, counseling, etc.)

Participate in team meetings, intervention planning, and school initiatives

Behavior & Classroom Management

Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed

Foster a safe, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment

Assessment & Data Use

Use formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress

Analyze data to inform instruction and intervention decisions

Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) processes

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in professional development and spiritual growth opportunities

Support school events, initiatives, and community engagement

Model professionalism, integrity, and Christian character

Perform other duties as assigned by administration
