Position Title: Mill Room/Calendar Operator I                       Department: Fabrication

Reports To: Fabrication Supervisor                                            FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Mill and Calendar Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining milling and calendaring equipment used in the production process to package, mill, slit, calendar, shop, click, and run injection press for manufacturing of tire repair patches. This role ensures materials are processed to quality specifications, production targets are met, and safety standards are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Set up, operate, and adjust mill and calendar machinery according to production requirements.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make necessary process adjustments.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Measure and record production data, including material usage, output, and quality checks.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment following company safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing specifications.
  • Supply various departments with necessary materials to make patches and repairs.
  • Operated various machines including: clickers, chopper, mills, calendar, slitter, and injection presses.
  • Cut Rubber material with trimmers and/or knives.
  • Utilize precise measurements to accurately produce required products.
  • Pack, box and label material.

Physical Requirements:

This is an extremely physical, labor-intensive position in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must be capable of performing strenuous physical activities throughout their shift, including:

  • Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Repeated bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
  • Loading and unloading raw materials and finished products.
  • Working in a fast-paced production environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving machinery.
  • Performing repetitive motions with hands, arms, and shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Safely handling heavy materials while following all company safety procedures.
  • Important: Candidates must be able to safely lift and move up to 100 pounds, either independently or with assistance and proper material-handling equipment when required. This position requires a high level of physical stamina and endurance to perform essential job functions safely and effectively.
