Job Description:
Essential Functions:
- Analyzes biological data to identify patterns and trends.
- Develops algorithms and computational tools for research and clinical genomics data analysis. Documents processes for future reference and training purposes.
- Collaborates with biologists and clinicians to implement solutions and interpret results.
- Maintains and updates databases of biological information.
- Conducts statistical analyses to draw conclusions from data and large-scale biological datasets.
- Stays current with advancements in bioinformatics research and technology.
- Contributes to journal publications and scientific conference presentations.
- Provides mentoring and support to less experienced programmers.
Education Requirement:
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, Genetics, or related field, required.
Skills:
- Must have significant computational and biological understanding.
- Must have the verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with developers, scientists, and clinicians.
- Analytical skills and the ability to transcribe biological questions to code as well as the ability to translate research pipelines to clinical applications.
Experience:
- Post-doc or 3 years of experience practicing bioinformatics in a research or clinical setting, required.
- Experience in bioinformatics, required.
- Experience in human genetics, preferred.
- Experience in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, preferred.
